The secret is finally out as local bride Emma bravely stepped forward this Saturday afternoon to sing to her new husband backed by Somewhere 2 Sing’s secret flash-mob singers.

Emma, a locally based specialist cancer nurse, has been secretly rehearsing with Bishop’s Stortford’s Somewhere 2 Sing Choir for weeks in the run up to her wedding day.

The stunned groom was moved to tears by his new wife as she turned to face him to sing a solo, whilst her sister and mother stepped forward to join the choir in celebrating the marriage.

Somewhere 2 Sing Choir Director Duncan Rutherford arranged a series of private rehearsals for Emma and the choir, with the choir under strict instructions to keep sessions top secret. “It was a privilege to do this for Emma and Dan,” says Rutherford, “singing lifts the soul and we were absolutely honoured to be asked to sing for such a lovely couple on their special day.”

Banned from any reference to their involvement on social media, communication was only through private messages to avoid ruining the surprise. With the help of venue staff, the choir sneaked in through a side door and hid in a corridor until the happy couple were pronounced man and wife.

“Anyone that knows my choir will know that keeping them quiet is almost impossible!” laughs Rutherford, “especially when they are about to perform because they just get so excited!”
